GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 97858
instead of 'Untitled 1' suggest file name from first few words of file
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Word (at least the last version I used- 95, maybe?) suggests a file name from the first few words of the file name when you do the first save. Like, if the file starts with 'Hi, Steve' the suggested file name is HiSteve or something like that. It wouldn't be useful very often but it would certainly be more useful than 'Untitled 1' :)
This popped up tangentially during the ui-review and, quoting murrayc, was labelled as "stoopeed" :-) short irc log: <pbor> IIRC M$ Word used to try to assign the first word(s) in the doc as filename... <murrayc> which is just stoopeed. <clarkbw> and might not work for multiple #!/usr/bin/python files
Where can I find the complete log of the ui-review? BTW, I agree with murrayc. Note also that having "Untitled 1" could be useful to distinguish documents when you are saving multiple untitled documents with "Save All" or after a "Close All" or "Quit" operation. Closing as WONTFIX.
These comments were part of the ui-review of the close-all dialog, the whole log of this converstion is attached to bug 128810. I don't know if clarkbw has attached logs of other gedit sessions somewhere else.
