Description Vincent Caron 2002-11-06 00:33:27 UTC
I'm using metacity 2.4.1 in Gnome2. When I launch an application, its
window does not get the focus automatically. I'm used to keyboard shortcuts
to fire a xterm or the panel's run dialog, and see those window get the
focus on creation. The problem only shows with 'focus follow mouse' and
'sloppy focus' models when the pointer happens not to be under the new
window. 'click focus' model works fine, ie. the newly created window grabs
the focus in any event.

We could say that it's not a bug and that the focus rightfully and strictly
follows the mouse, so I'm not sure wether I'm reporting a bug or not :).

I can confirm this behavior with at least focus-follows-mouse and the
run dialog.

Havoc, is this the intended behavior, or is Metacity doing something
not-quite-right?
Comment 2 Havoc Pennington 2002-11-06 22:59:43 UTC
This is a dup, there's a lot of discussion on the other bug.
Comment 3 Heath Harrelson 2002-11-07 11:11:41 UTC
Thanks, Havoc. I'm guessing you're referring to bug 89981.
