GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 97177
Themes capplet fails silently when asked to install non-themes
Last modified: 2005-01-06 13:58:52 UTC
Hi, http://bugs.debian.org/166982 If the themes capplet is told to install a theme which is not a valid gtk2 theme, it will unpack it into ~/.themes, with no check or indication as to whether it is correct. Quite confusing IMO -- I didn't realize some of the "gtk2" themes on freshmeat were misfiled until I opened up the tarfiles manually.

Huh? Reopening because this is not a duplicate of that bug.

So, should it check for some file inside the tarball before doing anything?
In the bug #102216 there is a patch that fix this issue.
