Gnome Panel crashes on login
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gnome-panel Severity: normal Version: 2.0.6 Synopsis: Gnome Panel crashes on login Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel Bugzilla-Component: Panel BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.0.3) Description: Description of Problem: Upon loggin in - I get an error message that the gnome panel has crashed and aborts. I am not able to do anything in Gnome other than submit bug reports and the few options I have off the right mouse key on the desktop. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Select Gnome on login 2. Application crashes 3. cry Actual Results: Panel crashes making gnome un-usable. Expected Results: Gnome would start and make my life easier. How often does this happen? Every time login with gnome Additional Information: I upgraded to 8.0, and have been using KDE, I thought I should check out this new Gnome - so I did. Kudos on the UI - very nice, except the panel was acting weird from the get-go. When I minimized programs the disappeared into some nether region of the panel - never to be seen from again. Tried customizing the panel - adding some buttons, etc - but that seemed to make it act all the weirder: lagging not responding, etc. So now when I try to boot into Gnome it crashes - everything visible on the panel except the clock. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/gnome-panel' (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...[New Thread 8192 (LWP 1134)] 0x420ae169 in wait4 () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6
