Description Richard Tango-Lowy 2002-10-09 01:08:59 UTC
Package: metacity
Severity: enhancement
Version: 2.4.1
Synopsis: Save attributes between sessions (particularly "sticky")
Bugzilla-Product: metacity
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
Description of Problem:

I really miss being able to save window attributes between sessions.
It's a pain to have to make gkrellm sticky each time I log in, move my
around each time I log in. Etc.

I know the metacity is faster and cleaner than the older window
managers, but I'd really like some of the functionality back.

I'd implement this in a heartbeat if it could be done without making
mistakes. But I've seen numerous bug reports and mailing list posts
where people are confused by unexpected windows getting stuck at a
particular position or with sticky state or the like, because the WM
can't reliably re-recognize "the same" window.

It has to be worked out how to do this feature reliably, then we'll
put it in.
