The first time I tried to log in, I got this error: Application "gnome-panel" (process 1773) has crashed due to a fatal error. (Aborted) Every time I try to close the error box, it comes back. I tried logging out and back in, and it is still there. Not good. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. 2. 3. I deleted the following directories, and then I could log in: .gconf/ .gnome2_private/ .rhn-applet.cache .gconfd/ .gnome-desktop/ .rhn-applet.conf evolution/ .gnome/ .gtkrc-1.2-gnome2 .fonts.cache-1 .gnome2/ .metacity/ It seems the problem is triggered by creating a new corner panel in the upper right corner of the screen - panel is vertical. Once I do that, the next time I log in I get the crash. I can try to get more information if you can tell me what might help isolate the problem further.
