Description jtiner 2002-09-26 16:14:26 UTC
Package: gnome-panel
Severity: normal
Version: 1.4.1
Synopsis: panel crashes when i start some applications
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: Panel

Description:
the panel crashes when i start some applications from the command prompt
like mplayer.

usually happens with a long listing of files for example say if i have a
list of movies like clip01.mpg through clip20.mpg - when i invoke
mplayer from a gnome-terminal like:

$ mplayer clip*

that's when i'm presented with a dialog box indicated that "the panel"
has crashed. sometimes the panel with "reappear" almost as if it never
crashed at all - then again, sometimes the panel will not reappear and
i'm forced to restart gnome / x-windows / whatever!

Known crash with no fix so far in the 1.4.x series. It's fixed in 2.0.x.
