Description Anand 2002-09-26 09:52:57 UTC
Not sure if this report should go as a bug ot as an enhancement. Please
move accordingly.

When in the list view, the user is not able to enter a name for a folder,
immediately after creation.

The newly created folder item is selected, but the user cannot enter a
name for the folder. He needs to again select the 'Rename' option to name
the folder.
Comment 1 Aschwin van der Woude 2002-11-28 19:07:04 UTC
I would say this is indeed an enhancement, and also adding the
usability keyword.

I did some testing on this; nautilus is trying to start a rename, but
since fam will make the listview update. This triggers the behaviour
described in bug #87701.
I'm changing the severity to minor, since it is implemented but broken.
Comment 5 Marius Andreiana 2003-07-22 07:40:14 UTC
This should be fixed according to
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=85076
( with View as Icons at least )

I'll check later, downloading gnome 2.3 now.

Comment 7 mwehner 2003-10-16 15:10:58 UTC
Fixed in icon view, still valid for list view.
Setting version->2.4, adding GNOMEVER2.4, GNOMEVER2.5 keywords.
Updating summary to include "rename".

Comment 12 markush 2004-11-29 17:13:33 UTC
hmm... looking closer: theres some odd bug, it sometimes works in list-view,
sometimes doesnt - guess we will live with that?

markush: What version of nautilus are you using? It works for me in list view
(and icon view and for desktop icons) in nautilus 2.8.2.
Comment 16 markush 2004-12-29 20:24:14 UTC
i am using nautilus 2.8.2 in debian unstable.
Comment 17 Elijah Newren 2004-12-29 20:31:19 UTC
Any chance you could find the steps under which it doesn't work? I wasn't able
to get the bug, but maybe it's because I'm using a mixed CVS HEAD build from
various times (but mostly during the 2.9.x stage...)
Comment 18 markush 2004-12-31 18:54:21 UTC
exactly as described, though right now theres a short time - i guess in
miliseconds where the new folder has a rename interface mask active, but it
instantly changes to the normal state.
