GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 94206
when zooming, where pointer is the center point of zoom
Last modified: 2003-07-24 08:58:40 UTC
I have assigned keys to the different zoom levels (2:1, 4:1, etc.). I would love it if you could zoom in with the center of the image where the mouse pointer was when I hit my zoom key. Example: 1000x1000 pixel image zoom = 1:1 zoom = 16:1 = '2' key mouse pointer is at (200,300) I hit my '2' key to zoom to 16:1 results: image zooms in on (500,500) as the center of the zoomed image wish: image zooms in on (200,300) as the center of the zoomed image Let me know if I'm unclear. Go Gimp! Bill
Hmmm... The behavior that you describe is what the Zoom tool does. It would be nice to be able to have a fast zoom (e.g., 16:1) by hitting a single key, but what should be done if the mouse pointer is outside the window when you hit that key? Do you want to center the zoom on some area that is currently not visible (and maybe outside the canvas) or on some visible area?
I think the Zoom Tool should be good enough just as Raphael said.
Changes at the request of Dave Neary on the developer mailing list. I am changing many of the bugzilla reports that have not specified a target milestone to Future milestone. Hope that is acceptable.
