GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 93425
Race during start-up
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gnome-panel Severity: normal Version: 1.4.0.4 Synopsis: Race during start-up Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel Bugzilla-Component: libpanel-applet Description: System: This system has a Redhat 7.2 install that was upgraded to 7.3 using the out-of-the-box upgrade on the 7.3 disks. Problem: The problem looks like a race condition during start-up; about 25-%33% of the time the applet bar will crash. Sorry, I do'nt know the component name; it's the bar (in my case) on the bottom of the screen which holds icons for gnome-terminal, mozilla, and the various windows that I create during my session. I can't find an appropriate looking description on the list of choices (the closest is gnome-panel), and would appreciate if you could reclassify this into the right place. the WM (sawfish) is alive and kicking, and the desktop is fine, otherwise. To reprodude, jsut log-in. No need to click on anything or type any keys. I use the default gnome install. BTW, crash or not, this is a GREAT windowing system, WM, and application set. The whole environment really rocks, and you have done a great job in building it. Many Thanks and Best Regards, Anand.
