GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 91357
Terrifying warning message needs rethinking.
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Translation of a Heise review (cor) of Gnome 2, courtesy of jroger on #gnome. <jroger> See http://www.heise.de/ix/artikel/2002/09/078/bild1.jpg It's a picture of gconf-editor's warning dialog (in German). It's the second screenshot on that page. The text next to it says: <jroger> "Unfortunately no joke: A system tool that can damage the system settings mustn't be in a final release." <TD> yeah, I queried that earlier, it makes it sound like gconf-editor has corruption bugs <luis> someone should bugzilla that to make it have a more useful/accurate message. <jroger> They point out though, that we don't have a registry but plain XML files Might want to reword it -- or ask the .de team to do so if the original is softer? Tagging as GNOME2, but if it needs a string change in the English then it will have to go to gnome-i18n or to 2.1.
Yeah, I think rewording it to something like "be careful what you do so you don't mess up your system" or something :) Should I move this bug somewhere?
