Description Glynn Foster 2002-08-08 12:39:59 UTC
To reproduce, open up favorites:/// view. Drag and drop a .desktop file in
there - doesn't create it anywhere.
I assume it's not implemented yet.
Comment 1 Alex Graveley 2002-08-08 13:05:43 UTC
Okay, so this works if you have the ~/.gnome/apps directory created
already, otherwise it just fails.

Instead of fixing it I suggest we just replace the few methods that
desktop-method is used for (favorites:, start-here:, system-settings:,
server-settings:) with vfolders.

Thoughts?

alex:

I actually like to see favorites:// used to replace nautilus
bookmarks, so im all for that idea.
Comment 3 Glynn Foster 2002-08-08 13:14:00 UTC
yeah, I'm all in agreement...sorry, didn't realise that favorites:///
was in the desktop-method /me dumb.
Comment 4 Alex Graveley 2002-08-08 13:16:23 UTC
you're not dumb. it makes no sense! ;-)
Comment 5 Luis Villa 2002-08-08 14:42:21 UTC
Alex: FWIW, bug 89754 is where havoc requests more or less the same
thing. You can probably close that one if you fix all three of these
in one go.
Comment 6 Alex Graveley 2002-08-13 03:48:56 UTC
Fixed in vfolder cvs branch... removed libdesktop.so altogether.
Comment 7 prabhut 2002-09-02 16:13:04 UTC
Tested with sun beta 2 build 4 package. We are able to reproduce the
problem.

Can we reopen the bug please.
Comment 8 Luis Villa 2002-09-03 21:10:41 UTC
Able to reproduce what problem?
Comment 9 Alex Graveley 2002-09-04 04:51:07 UTC
When were your packages built from CVS?
Comment 10 prabhut 2002-09-04 06:03:20 UTC
Source was taken from multihead branch on "Tue Aug 20 13:26:01 BST
2002"(version 2.0.3).

I am able to reproduce means, when I drag and drop a folder/file into
favourites:/// view, I am not getting any error message nor seeing
the folder/file(which is dropped).
Comment 11 Luis Villa 2002-09-04 15:24:45 UTC
There is no multihead branch of gnome-vfs; that's meaningless. Still,
should have been fixed by the 20th. What is the last entry in your
gnome-vfs Changelog?
Comment 12 prabhut 2002-09-09 04:10:10 UTC
Source was taken from gnome-2-0-vfolder-rewrite branch dated "Tue Aug
20 13:26:01 BST 2002".
