Moving mailcheck bugs to gnome-applets
Comment 2 Danielle Madeley 2004-10-26 13:16:07 UTC
After an extensive discussion, mailcheck has been deprecated for GNOME 2.10,
ideally to be replaced by an evolution based mail notification system that
integrates tightly with the desktop. People who don't use Evolution will
probably want to look at the highly superior mailnotify.

mailcheck support will continue for GNOME 2.8. If people should have any
concerns regarding this decision they should contact me privately.

People who are using mailcheck will receive an informational dialog when they
run GNOME 2.10 informing them that mailcheck has been deprecated (as well as
removing it from their configuration). [1] This dialog will eventually link to
migration help.
