Description shadash 2002-07-02 06:17:50 UTC
I just compiled and installed Garnome 2.0 final. I was excited to see the
new panel which works great! I only have one problem, I like a CDE style
panel. In the old 1.4 panel you were able to choose panel > properties >
type > edge aligned panel and the panel automaticly centered itself. In the
new gnome-panel I no longer have the panel > properties > type > edge
aligned panel option. In it's place I can choose how may degrees offcenter
I want gnome-panel which can give the look I had with 1.4.

But, after adding a new launcher to the panel it becomes offcenter again
and I have to recenter after every launcher or applet is added.

I talked to people at #gnome and they said that the only time a new feature
will be added to gnome 2.0 is when that feature cannot be acomplished in
any other way. I reguard to my bug I do believe it qualifies as a new
feature even though you can accomplish the same affect centering
gnome-panel by degrees. Here is why...

It can become extremely annoying having to recenter the panel after every
launcher or applet is added.

If you need more info email me.

Related but leaving this open and making it block; description here is
better and distinct of this particular portion of the problem.
