GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 87008
"View hidden files" in the view menu
Last modified: 2006-12-26 18:29:44 UTC
Firstly I know that this may look like a duplicate of 43472, but that bug has been open since 2000 and it was actually asking for something different than i am. What it requested was the ability to enable/disable hidden files on a folder by folder basis from the view menu. IMHO this is excessive and un-intuitive and as was pointed out would require major architectural changes. What I am suggesting is an option in the View menu that would have the same function as the "show hidden files" option in preferences. This would only be a tiny amount of coding because the core code is already there, it just needs to be linked to the View menu. IMO and in the opinion of EVERY nautilus user i've ever encountered this is the one major feature that is lacking from Nautilus. It's even worse to know how easy it would be to add. I would love to see this in GNOME 2.0.1 - it would be one less thing for reviews to mark gnome down on.
Not happening in 2.0.x (no new features in there) but maybe in 2.2.x.
