Description Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-06-23 08:04:41 UTC
It would be nice to include a WM themer in the theme selector as a separate
tab, so that all visual themes are configured in the same place.

Yes, this is the plan. Also, "icon theme" - alex added support for
icon themes to the panel and is planning it for Nautilus.

see related bug 86232 for icon theming bug request.
Comment 4 Jody Goldberg 2002-08-21 17:23:46 UTC
The WM theme support patch went into 2.1.0
No attempt at icon themes yet

Jody et. al.

There are two ways we could do this for 2.2

1. The less ambitious way is to move nautilus theme selection into the
theme capplet and just refer to them as icon themes. I think at the
least we should do this.

2. The more ambitious way to do this would be to truly implement
universal gnome wide mime-type icon theming. Perhaps this could be
done via vfs, im not sure of the technical specifics really. The goal
with this type of icon theming would be that all gnome apps that use
mime icons (evo, new file selector, the panel, etc.) would use the
same icons. This is my personal preference as it is definately better
for accessibility and usability, but 1) may be more reasonable in the
2.2 time frame.
Comment 6 Havoc Pennington 2002-08-21 18:36:28 UTC
Real icon themes are already mostly sorted out; it shouldn't be a big
deal to get them working everywhere. We should do this the right way.
Comment 7 Alexander Larsson 2002-08-22 07:27:52 UTC
I'm working on non nautilus specific icons for files. It's aimed at
gnome 2.2 though.
