Description Duncan Innes 2002-06-06 15:49:05 UTC
Package: gnome-panel
Severity: normal
Version: 1.5.24
Synopsis: Panel crashed after modifying properties of a menu option
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: Panel
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (1.117.2)

Description:
Description of Problem:
Panel crashed. I am testing Bug 84140 which is to do with nautilus
crashing when I try and add or modify menu items from Nautilus

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Right click on a menu item and select "properties"
2. Change the icon for the item
3. Click OK or Accept (can't remember the button now)
4. Select Applications from the panel menu and panel crashes

Actual Results:
Panel crashed immediately on clicking Applications after editing the
menu item properties

Expected Results:
Should have shown the menu with the correctly modified menu item

How often does this happen?
Not 100% sure because I was successfully modifying a few items before
the crash happened.

Additional Information:
I had modified a few other items from the menu whilst testing Bug 84140.
I then tried to add a menu item via Nautilus before trying to modify
some more items from the panel. The modifications were simply to change
icons or add new icons - nothing special.

This may be completely down to Bug 84140 with Nautilus, but I thought
I'd file it anyway to shed some more light on the problem.

Alex, George, Mark: can you guys take a look at this one ASAP? Thanks.
Comment 2 Alex Graveley 2002-06-13 15:29:24 UTC
This is a vfolder bug, changing product to vfs.
Comment 3 Andrew Sobala 2002-06-17 22:58:28 UTC
Can someone take a look at bug 85682 and check if it's a duplicate or
not? It looks similar but the backtrace on this bug is limited.
Comment 4 Alex Graveley 2002-07-29 17:02:01 UTC
This code has all changed with the vfolder rewrite, so I'm closing
this bug.

Check out the rewrite on the gnome-vfs-2-0-vfolder-rewrite branch of
gnome-vfs.

Mass resetting target milestone to clean up gnome-vfs milestones. Please
complain if I removed a milestone which should have been kept. Sorry for the spam
