Description paussems 2002-06-06 15:28:05 UTC
Package: metacity
Severity: normal
Version: 2.3.610
Synopsis: New windows are not focused
Bugzilla-Product: metacity
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
Description of Problem:
The new windows do not get the focus

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Gnome menu -> run program...

Actual Results:
The dialog appears but doesn't have the focuse

Expected Results:
Dialog should be focused

How often does this happen?
Always

Additional Information:
Was running 2.3.377, and this problem wasn't there... If it's a
'feature', then please make it configurable trough gconf keys, because
having windows not focused when they are displayed just makes keyboard
shortcuts unusefull...

Confirming. Another example: Tried to invoke an application from the
command prompt, the app opened up, but never gained focus. (RH 7.1
running gnome 2.0 from 7th June CVS snapshot)

Fresh tarball build of Gnome2 as of 9 June 2002.

I'm getting this too. Version is metacity-2.3.610. Seems to happen
mainly with certain types of windows ie: control panel applets, panel
applet dialogs. Opening normal programs like gcalc, gconf-editor seem
to be unaffected.

There's a long discussion of this on some other bug, but I can't find
it...
