Having had this reoccur several times now, I've realised that the bug
is somewhat simpler than I'd thought. I can crash the panel on-demand
if I try to open Opera using gAIM's "Open Mail" facility when signing
into MSN Messenger. The panel only crashes the first time this command
is selected - signing out of gAIM and back in, and then selecting
"open mail" seems to cause no problems, and re-running Opera causes no
problems at any other time.

Note that this problem has only started occurring recently, and may be
to do with playing with kernel options, updates grabbed from Red Carpet.

Thanks very much for your time, if any additional info or testing is
required, I'd be more than happy to help.

I think this sounds suspiciously similar to #59500. Sigh.
Comment 4 Kjartan Maraas 2002-10-13 21:42:04 UTC
And is a variant of the same bug
