Description Fred Druseikis 2002-05-24 07:50:44 UTC
Package: gnumeric
Version: 1.0.4
Severity:

>Synopsis: Advanced Filter on large table crashes gnumeric
>Class: sw-bug
System: DELL XPS 450 MHz P2, 256MB, Ximian GNOME, RH 7.0 libc-2.2.4

>Description:

Gnumeric crashes when attempting to filter a select number of rows out of a large table.

Crashes if either you try to Copy to a new location or Copy to a new sheet.

Very repeatable.

>How-To-Repeat:
I'm using the medicaid.csv data set from www.hcfa.gov ( full URL is http://www.hcfa.gov/stats/nhe-oact/stateestimates/Tables98/Medicare.csv)

Loads nicely using import.
It has 601 rows of data; cols A-Z;
I'm trying to select all the rows for a specific state, e.g. "South Carolina". (state name is COlumn F)

To build the selection criteria I used, copy row 1
to row 606; put the string "South Carolina" in cell F607

I typed these ranges into the Advanced Filter Dialog:

List Range: A1:Z601
Criteria Range: A606:Z607
Copy to: A611 (not required in the Copy to new sheet)

boom.
