From the back trace this looks like the same bug as 81104 and friends.
What distribution are you using ? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 81104 ***
If you are using Debian, can you use 'reportbug' to give us more information ?
A clue just arrived this morning. It may be a locale issue. Can you create a new workbook and try to SAVE it in xls format ? If that crashes too then we can patch the bug for 1.0.7 (due today).
