GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 81663
using tablet/pen in Gimp
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
The Gimp 1.2.3. I downloaded only knows an Aiptek tablet. Ihave a Lifetec tablet from Medion and this tablet cannot be installed into Gimp. Can you help me? Dick./
I don't know much about the Windows version of the GIMP, but it should allow you to use your tablet if the tablet is correctly detected by Windows. If it works in other applications, then it should also work in the GIMP. Tor, is this correct? Can I close this bug report?
Tablets work well as long as you tell GTK+ not to try to use them ;-) I.e., the code that specifically supports tablets (cf. XINPUT support on X11) is known to be buggy. To bypass the buggy tablet code, start the application with --ignore- wintab, or set the GDK_IGNORE_WINTAB environment variable (to any value). Then you won't have any pressure or tilt sensitivity, of course.

Isn't this just a duplicate of bug #138341?
