Closing GIMP and opening it again resets all seemingly saved  Text Tool presets (both newly created and old) to sans-serif font. But with correct font sizes. So saving is happening, it's just severely bugged now.

Uh, yes, it is. Sorry, couldn't find it earlier. I tried, honest.
But the thing is it wasn't present for me in 2.8 and earlier.
