GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 79601
applet fails to save edited changes
Last modified: 2006-02-13 07:27:38 UTC
Gnome CVS head on Solaris sparc 9 1. Add GKB applet to menubar Add to Panel - Utility - Keyboard layout switcher. 2. right click on keyboard layout switcher and select preferences 3. In the keyboard layout switcher preferences dialog, select a keymap (e.g US) by clicking on it. Select Edit from the menu on the right. 4. Make a change in the edit keyboard dialog, e.g. change the label to USA instead of US. 5. Click Apply and OK in the edit keyboard dialog. 6. click close in the keyboard layout switcher dialog. 7. repeat steps 2 and 3. the changes made by the user will not have been saved.
Should do something about this for GNOME2. Either disallow editing for now or make the necessary changes.
Shooby: should we just remove the functionality for now? Do users need to change the information?
Yes users need to make changes that should be saved. When doing translations I want to be able to switch back and forth between US 105 and US International. But every time I log out and log in again I have the Hungarian keyboard back (see bug 81388). Very annoying.
Yesterday a patch that might fix this was attached to bug 81303 !
Fixed in cvs
