GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 790103
Missing program icon in notifications
Last modified: 2018-04-11 04:48:11 UTC
Currently, no application icon is displayed when I receive a notification from geary – I just see the sender and the title. It seems that monochromatic icons are required – could it be the case, that there is none?
Hi Frank, thanks for reporting this. We do provide a symbolic icon, and it shows up fine for me in notifications under gnome-shell. How are you running Geary? If you are building it from source, you may need to do a "sudo make install" and maybe restart your desktop notifications daemon for it show up.
I run it via Flatpak – could this be the root of the problem?
The symbolic icon should be getting installed there as well, so I don't know if Flatpak specifically is the issue. Which linux distribution and desktop environment are you using?
Fedora 27 beta with Gnome 3.26. Is there maybe some portal thin needed? (I don’t know much about Flatpak)
Ah no, it was only working for me because I also had Geary installed via a deb package. I've pushed a fix to master in commit da15ebe. It's a surprisingly large change, so it'll probably have to wait for 0.13 rather than 0.12.1. Thanks for the bug report!
Ok, sad, but thanks anyway!
Actually, will look at backporting this to 0.12.2.
Cherry picked to geary-0.12 as commit 9377074a.
