Gnome 3.26 introduced window animations when tiling or maximizing windows. While this works fine on my system when using a X session, animations are not shown for some windows when using a Wayland session.

E.g. it doesn't work for Gedit, Nautilus, Calendar, Builder, Contacts, Gnome Settings and many more. On the other hand it does work for Google Chrome, Firefox, Gimp and IntelliJ. To my knowledge all of the affected applications use GTK3, whereas the unaffected ones do not. Consequently I suspect that the use of GTK3 is somehow related. 

My system runs Gnome 3.26.1 on Arch Linux. The used GTK3 version is 3.22.24.

This is a known regression that affects all wayland windows (that's why some windows still work for you, they are using X11 via XWayland)
