GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 787470
problem of display in the title bar
Last modified: 2018-01-24 01:27:30 UTC
Created attachment 359433 [details] graphic bug occurs when I move the application menu in the title bar
ubuntu gnome 17.10
How to move "the application menu in the title bar"? Please always provide clear steps to reproduce; see https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/Bugzilla/Guidelines - thanks! :) Also, was this reported in the bug tracker of your distribution and was there a request to upstream this to GNOME Bugzilla?
I've seen this report I guess twice so far. One is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1712660, I cannot find the other one (perhaps is was on one of the stackoverflow sites). Seems to me like a unity or gnome-shell (or which one is exactly the window manager in standard GNOME?) bug. I'm using Ubuntu and usually upgrade when the final beta comes out, so I'll have Artful late Sep / early Oct to test this.
@Anré Klapper: 1) i move the 'application menu' in the title bar with 'gnome-tweak-tool' 2) was this reported in the bug tracker of your distribution : yes 3) was there a request to upstream this to GNOME Bugzilla : no @Egmont Koblinger: yes, it's the same bug as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1712660 i have this problem with ubuntu gnome shell artfull 17.10 i don't have this problem with ubuntu unity xenial 16.04.3
This is a bug in the icon theme.
more information: Bug exists with Xorg. Bug does not exist with Wayland. (Ubuntu Bionic 18.04)
I'm on Artful, have been trying all different kinds of desktop environments with X and Wayland too for testing purposes, and never seen this happen. I think it must be related to some optional additional package (such as a faulty icon theme, as Christian pointed out). It's easily possible that X's window manager does not work around the incorrectly sized icon, while Wayland's does.
If the bug is still present, let's continue at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1724250.
