Description el 2017-08-08 11:45:47 UTC
org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences.visual-bell-type is ignored, there is always a fullscreen flash despite the setting being set to frame-flash.

It worked for me properly before on a recent GNOME version (around 3.22.x) under an X11 session, so this is probably either a regression with a new GNOME version or a regression when changing from the X11 session to the Wayland session.

What version/distro are you using? This should be fixed since bug 763284, and I can't reproduce any issue in a quick test ...
Comment 2 Florian Müllner 2017-08-08 13:56:08 UTC
(In any case, the visual bell is handled entirely in mutter)
Comment 3 el 2017-08-08 14:17:58 UTC
GNOME 3.24.3 (gnome control center "Details" dialog says 3.24.2 but package installed is supposedly 3.24.3) on Fedora 26 with mutter 3.24.4
Comment 4 mmitar 2017-11-23 02:59:01 UTC
I have the same issue. Gnome 3.26.1 on Ubuntu 17.10.
Comment 5 mmitar 2017-11-23 04:52:26 UTC
It seems some extra work was needed to get it to work based on this issue: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=763284

But it seems like it has been done. But this could explain why in wayland it maybe does not work.
Comment 6 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 13:45:22 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
