GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 785977
levels tool works on both mask and layer at the same time
Last modified: 2017-09-13 01:41:09 UTC
Probably best to explain with the part of the tutorial that fails: https://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Floating_Logo/#adjusting-the-levels Instead of only working on the mask, it works on the mask and the layer at the same time. Even when the "Edit mask" toggle is toggled. Also, what happened to JTL and who is PAT?
I have no idea what you mean. The tools don't even have the ability to work on two things at the same time.
A layer that has a mask. If I try to adjust the levels of the mask, the levels of the image under the mask also 'adjust' at the same time. In the tutorial, levels are used to sharpen the blurred edge of the mask. I can make an image for you, based on the tutorial.... It seemed like for once, there was some old documentation that allowed me to just paste a link and the problem could be easily understood within the some few seconds it takes to follow the tutorial.

I read the other bug, I am embarrassed because I *think* that all I needed to have done since I started using 2.9 is to have used the OK button (ignoring the preview). The previews are in flux. I mention this here in the case that any one with the same problem looks here.
