GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 783932
GParted won't launch on Fedora 25
Last modified: 2017-06-19 07:50:05 UTC
Everytime I try to start GParted it simply refuses to run. It worked on Fedora 24 but ever since I upgraded to Fedroa 25 it won't launch.
Thanks for taking the time to report this. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. -- This is documented as a known issue with Fedora 25 & 26: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F25_bugs#wayland-root-apps https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F26_bugs#wayland-root-apps By design Wayland does not allow processes run as a different user to display on the desktop. Therefore using "su" or "sudo" to display a graphical application will not work. Simple workaround is to run "xhost +SI:localuser:root" in a terminal before running GParted. This is also documented in the GParted forun here: [SOLVED] How to run GParted on a GNOME on Wayland desktop http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=17446 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 776437 ***
