Ubuntu has been carrying this patch for a while but it doesn't look like it was forwarded to GNOME.

The only other patch Ubuntu is carrying is a gsettings patch from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/619398

Sadly, Unity's accessibility support is incomplete so this still doesn't fix https://bugzilla.gnome.org/740628

Unity is discontinued as I understand it. And hacks to work around accessibility bugs in software which is both downstream to GNOME and discontinued should IMHO be maintained downstream; not upstream. Sorry!
