gvfs 1.30 introduced the admin backend.

It's now possible for admin users to write to elevate their privileges to write to files.

For instance, as a regular user, I can't edit /etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
but if I open admin:///etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini I can save to that file after authenticating as admin.

(I think most non-Ubuntu distros don't create that settings.ini file by default, but I couldn't think of a better example right now.)

It would be great if gedit could have a button to allow elevating privileges when it detects that the user can't write to the currently opened file. Because having to manually use admin:/// is not very discoverable.
