demonstration of the volume UI glitch

on my 1920x1200 monitor, the volume indicator makes a weird twitch movement every time I adjust the volume up or down when its over 50%.

This does not happen on the my laptop screen however, which is a HiDPI screen.

Not sure if this is related to having both a HiDPI screen and an lower resolution monitor. It happens even with my laptop screen closed.

Attached is a video demonstrating the effect.

I am on gnome 3.22, fedora 25
