I talked to Javier about this and we're OK with it provided you are willing to make Geary releases following the GNOME release cycle [1]. That would lead to a much closer relationship between Geary and GNOME that I think would be benifical to both. If you're OK with that, then you can push this as-is. If not, it should go in gnome-world instead of gnome-apps. We also recommend, but do not require, that you switch to using the GNOME version numbers (i.e. next Geary release would be 3.23.90). Sounds pretty reasonable. I was thinking about release planning a bit the other day, and ended up with a plan that basically looked like it aligned with the GNOME release schedule anyway, so I can imagine that happening if not this cycle then next. Moving to GNOME version numbering is doable as well, but I feel like that has some implications that don't really hold up at the moment: desktop integration, support for current GTK+ features, etc. The situation should get much better with subsequent releases after the next one though, so I'd be much much happier to switch to GNOME numbering for 3.25 or 3.27. In any case, I'd want to take this to the Geary community for feedback before going all-in. Details of the plan are here if you're interested: https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Geary/ReleasePlanning If it looks like aligning with 3.23.x is doable then I'll push this to gnome-apps, but if it doesn't make it, would you and Javier be happy if I patched gnome-world instead and later moved it to gnome-apps for 3.25?
Yes, that plan sounds good!
