Description quazgar 2016-11-22 18:39:29 UTC
Currently the Message-ID is always constructed from the hostname, for example

Message-ID: <12345.78.90.camel@myhostname>

This is a good way of generating probably unique IDs, but comes with two drawbacks:

1) Uniqueness: The hostnames may not be that unique after all, many people just call their computer after the brand, for example.
2) Privacy: The hostname may not be something users want to share with the whole world, as put nicely in this comment on serverfault:

Because "hostname" is "ihateyouall" or "asskickr" whereas "domain.tld" is "jesus-loves-you.org"

https://serverfault.com/questions/335988/is-it-possible-to-change-the-postfix-message-id#comment330986_335988

Thus, it would be nice to add an option, to put a custom fake domain into the Message-ID field (e.g. "jesus-loves-you.org") or just create that part randomly as well.

Thanks for a bug report. As you said "Currently", what does it mean in the sense of the evolution-data-server and the evolution version for you, please? I ask also because of bug #702703.

Hi,

the version of evolution as given in the Info dialog, is 3.10.4.

Also, this mail header seems relevant:
X-Mailer: Evolution 3.10.4-0ubuntu2

Referring to bug #702703, if the comments there are correct, it should be fixed by now. I'm marking this as a duplicate.
