GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 773270
windows are not resized to fit screen size when moved from a screen to screen on wayland (regression from X11)
Last modified: 2021-07-05 13:44:04 UTC
When I move a window from one screen to a second screen (which does not have the same size), the window gets resized to fit the screen on X11, but it is not resized on Wayland, and the window spans two screens instead (which is very hard to look at). See the attached videos. Reproducer: 1. have two screens, make the right screen narrower than the left one (smaller resolution, pivot, etc) 2. have a window on the left screen with large enough size to not fit on the right screen 3. use a keyboard shortcut to move the window to the right screen 4. observe the window gets resized on X11, but not on Wayland gnome-shell-3.22.1-1.fc25.x86_64 gtk3-3.22.1-2.fc25.x86_64 mutter-3.22.1-3.fc25.x86_64

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
