Description Ulrich.Windl 2016-05-27 10:02:35 UTC
When recently processing many images with two different settings of "unsharp mask" filter, I missed the ability to save and restore the settings (also for consistent results).
As I also work with Adobe's Photoshop Lightroom, where you can save almost any setting as a preference to re-apply, I really feel that GIMP is missing something in that area.
I propose to add some framework that will allow any dialog to save and restore its parameters completely or in part to a named preference and later restore from there. (In Lightroom preferences work across modules, but that's a bit tricky for GIMP)

Another application could be file exports: JPEG, for example, has quite a lot of settings, so it would be handy if you could change them all with a simple selection of preference. Maybe (according to enhancement proposal #766938) a new export type could be added dynamically to the list of export types...

Related to and - as far as plug-ins are concerned - a partial duplicate of bug 120829
