GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 759950
Gnome-software needs redesign
Last modified: 2016-01-12 07:19:36 UTC
Created attachment 318003 [details] Concept Gnome-software is useless at the moment. Why I can only install that apps, that have "pages" or whatever it calls? That's pointless. That's not what Software-center about - I need to have option to see ALL of the packages, not only that you want me to see. Also, I must see the deps list for clear vision - do I need these or may be try to find another app. And the progress of what is happening inside Software center - may be I have promblem with internet connection? How do I know that? Humans need to know what's happening! I'm a human! Not a Red Hat Test Robot, 01001100 01001111 01001100! HIG, man! Its for humans! Using gnome-software now is just like having a bad wife - she cant fulfil your social and sexual needs and you looks for another woman to satisfy you (go to terminal an use dnf). Please make it a good wife, lol. Look at the attached file, I hope you'll understand. Happy New Year! Good luck!

I think this enhancement worth discussing. But without that blunt humor reporter used in description. gnome-software right now is really just useless, even if we compare it to Ubuntu Software Center. USC lets you install all packages, even if they does not have appstream data(if it is missing, when description and summary of the package is used). Also it has support for "addon" packages, which is formed from weak dependencies of the package. I don't think it will make gnome-software more complicated or harder to use. On the contrary, it may even make life easier. So, for example, I don't need to use gnome-terminal and dnf to install mesa-vdpau-drivers in Fedora.
I'm not even going to discuss this with you, based on your language and tone it would be a waste of my time. I think you want to install gnome-packagekit (search for 'packages' in the software center) instead.

I think you want to install gnome-packagekit > (search for 'packages' in the software center) instead. I know what reporter used inappropriate language in the description. And I strongly agree, this is bad. This is a bugzilla of international community, not some instant messaging between some anons on the internet. But what is wrong about my language and tone?
