GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 758411
scrollbars gone
Last modified: 2021-05-26 09:25:24 UTC
In vinagre 3.16.1, it has scrollbars when I connected to a remote VNC server whose screen was too big to fit in my local window. In vinagre 3.18.1, the scrollbars are gone. WTF?
That's still an issue, seems to have to do with the new gtk scrollbars rather than with vinagre changes...
After upgrading my ubuntu from 14.04LTS to 16.04LTS yesterday. I had same issue reported in this ticket. Very annoying, made it harder for me to work from home via remote desktop. Saw this issue reported here when people upgraded to 15.10 in NOV-2015 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vinagre/+bug/1518079 Also saw the same issue back in NOV-2009. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vinagre/+bug/469746 It appeared that we kept tripping down on the same stone over the years in history. Hope there is automated unit test verification done for this issue before release. What's the work around, guys? Thanks.

As far as I can determine, the scrollbars are in the vinagre window, they're just invisible. So if you put your mouse cursor at the very bottom or right edge of the vinagre window, a couple pixels _inside_ the window, and click and drag, you can scroll the window.
Thanks. Jonathan. You are correct. Alright, I've tested. At least it's functioning. Just imagining that invisible scroll bar near the vinagre window edge when scrolling it. :-)
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Vinagre, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/vinagre/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
