GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 756782
Mounted SD cards are not displayed on the sidebar
Last modified: 2015-11-04 12:14:52 UTC
Created attachment 313623 [details] screencast of bug Nautilus 3.18 fails to show SD cards on the sidebar like, for instance, a pendrive - gvfs recognizes and mounts the device but it's not accessible from nautilus, unless you click on the notification popup right away.
I can confirm this bug on 3.18.1 (using Arch Linux). It is especially problematic since it doesn't allow to properly unmount a SD-Card through Nautilus. USB mass storage devices are shown correctly... One interesting observation is that when Nautilus is open while inserting the SD-Card, the sidebar entry is created and immediately removed again (it just flashes up very briefly...)
Does it show in nautilus under "Other locations"? My USB stick shows fine in sidebar, however my USB harddisk does not (only visible in "Other locations").

In the new design USB harddisks are supposed to go in "Other locations" while USB sticks go in the sidebar. The problem is with SD cards. I'm using a Sony Vaio, when I insert an SD card lsblk list the device as /dev/mmcblk0

They put them together with network services discovered by avahi-daemon. But this is a bug about SD cards not showing up in the sidebar like USB sticks do.

I certainly don't keep my external hard drives plugged all the time. Would be a bit inconvenient with a laptop :-)

It seems to be the same issue there, it blinks up very briefly but gets removed/hidden immediately.
(In reply to Michael Biebl from comment #6) > I certainly don't keep my external hard drives plugged all the time. Me neither... I use it exactly like a USB stick. Thanks for the explanation.
I do keep them plugged in all the time, but that's another question.
