GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 751004
New view to navigate internal volumes and network locations
Last modified: 2015-10-26 15:11:32 UTC
This bug tracks a new design, which replaces the one described in bug 721416. The primary goal is to clean up the sidebar, and provide a place where you can get an overview of the different locations it is possible to browse with Nautilus. Mockups: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/nautilus/nautilus-next/other-locations.png https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/nautilus/nautilus-next/other-locations.png This "other places" view is intended to replace the existing places sidebar items: * / * Internal volumes * "Browse Network" * "Connect to Server" It should be possible to add /, internal volumes, and network locations to the sidebar by bookmarking them. Removable media should be automatically displayed in the sidebar, as it already is today. The "other locations" view should be available from both Nautilus and Open/Save File dialogs.
Seems implemented now. Anything stil missing?
indeed
It is asinine to force users to click "Other Locations" in order to navigate their filesystem or external HDD. Please consider making this feature optional and provide a way to disable.

For what it's worth, I meant asinine in its first definition of "extremely foolish" and not "resembling an ass." Also, my second sentence was a polite feature request so I was not "only insulting."

Also, my second sentence was a polite > feature request so I was not "only insulting." "Foolish" or "stupid" are both rude. The fact that you followed it up with an (unsubstantiated - thanks for that) feature request makes no difference. This is a bug tracker, not a discussion forum. Please don't comment again unless you have something useful to say.
