Desktop icons covered by top bar

When logging into my machine, the desktop icons are covered by the top bar.
When starting an application, the icons are repositioned correctly. It seems like they are getting shifted down to the correct position.

Running gnome 3.16 on an archlinux laptop. I didn't face this issue when running gnome 3.14.

I attached a screenshots, where you can see the desktop icons after logging into the machine, which are covered by the top bar.

I tried to start a clean gnome session after updating from 3.14 to 3.16 by deleting all files in ~/.cache, ~/.config and ~/.local but it didn't help.
