GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 749689
EOG should ignore the file extension and rely only on the magic header
Last modified: 2015-10-25 17:04:54 UTC
EOG displays an error if the file extension doesn't match the file magic header. However, if no extension is specified, it uses the magic header and correctly displays the file. Many images on the internet have a mismatch between the file extension and the actual file type. When these images are saved and opened using EOG, it displays an error. Why can't we just ignore the file extension are rely only on the magic type?
