Package: gnome-panel
Severity: enhancement
Version: 1.5.13
Synopsis: eyecandy for icon of launcher, menu..
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: Panel

Description:
I've seen KDE panel expand icon pixmap on hover.
They said that it's originated from Mac Aqua.
I think gnome has full requirement for the eyecandy.
What about to implement?

If this is implemented it needs to be done right (ala osx) i hate how
kde does it.

I think it's not simple eyecandy, but important usability improvement.
It's easier to notice important object (icons, main menu - "Gnome foot", etc.)
in panel, when they becomes larger whenever the mouse cursor is located above them.
It would be very user-friendly if launchers and main (and applications) menu in
gnome-panel would enlarge if mouseover event occurs.
Comment 4 Karel Demeyer 2004-12-26 21:41:02 UTC
Right, but this should be in a gconf key, and best as an option in the panel
preferences.

I suggest that these little wishlist requests be considered regularly (ie.
during the twice-yearly feature discussions) during GUI HIG discussions and
accepted or turfed regularly to prevent a rising number of gnome bugzilla
entries. Since Gnome has moved from hacker featuritis to an elegant desktop,
this is probably a necessary direction.
Comment 6 André Klapper 2020-11-07 12:14:01 UTC
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
