GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 747991
chat notification can't be deleted
Last modified: 2016-03-16 18:13:50 UTC
Hello, I use gnome-shell 3.16.1 on archlinux. I can view the current notifications by hitting Super+M. Some notifications can be deleted by hitting the "delete" key while its have the focus. When I try to delete a chat/jabber notification by hitting "delete" it disappear and reappear instantly. It's a regression from gnome 3.14. Step to reproduce : * use gnome-shell 3.16 * receive (send yourself) a chat/jabber message * hit Super+M * select it with arrow keys * hit the "delete" key Thank you in advance.
The bug disappear with gnome-shell 3.16.1-2 on archlinux.
I didn't push my test on 3.16.1-2… in fact the bug is steal present. gnome 3.16.2.

This still occurs with gnome 3.18 with the new notification design. In the notification window, pressing close (X) to remove all notifications, makes all chat notifications reappear. One has to close them as they pop up again to permanently remove them.

This occurs for me, on 3.18, for example with Polari notifications.
Created attachment 323413 [details] [review] telepathyClient: Acknowledge messages before closing While a channel has pending messages, it will pop up again when dismissed. That is clearly not what users expect, so clear them out first before closing a channel.
