GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 746794
Unclear which app is requesting a codec
Last modified: 2018-01-24 16:56:49 UTC
Created attachment 300341 [details] screenshot I just tried a full 3.15.92 session for the first time, and saw the attached notification. I wasn't sure which application was requesting the codec, and this was disturbing. It felt like something malicious or underhand was going on. When I clicked on the notification and opened Software, again there was no indication of which application wanted the codec.
The same is true for mime type support, printer drivers, etc.
Allan, is there a mockup for what we're supposed to show? Thanks.
(In reply to Richard Hughes from comment #2) > Allan, is there a mockup for what we're supposed to show? Thanks. You'd just change "An application" in the notification to the app's name.
We probably want to show the application name above the list of software that's being requested, too: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups-software/master/wireframes/codec-install.png
