GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 745613
Evince won't save PDF form
Last modified: 2018-05-22 16:10:01 UTC
I did all my taxes with Evince. When completed, I saved all files. Upon reopening, all filled text fields were blank. Awesome. Ubuntu 14.04.1 , Evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1 I believe it only occurs when I edit the file name before saving. Default file name seems to save okay though further investigation may be necessary.

Created attachment 298596 [details] PDF form that seems to work as expected Because no PDF test was provided, I tried with a PDF with a form that I had at hand. I tried: 1. Open the document with Evince 2. Fill the form (just the first field) 3. Save a copy, change the name of the document (say, with the suffix -foo.pdf) 4. Close the document 5. Open the document recently created It worked as expected, that is, the saved PDF has the field filled. I am using Evince master (next 3.16) with poppler 0.31.0. Please, try the same steps with the same PDF attached. If you still can see the issue, then it is fixed in a newer version. If you cannot, then please provide a PDF test case.
Hello teacher Germán Poo :)
Okay, I'll see if I can get the latest version installed and try it again. The document in question is here - http://www.irs.gov/file_source/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf I added the gnome repository and tried to update my evince, I'm still stuck on 3.10 though.
Saving a filled in version of the file attached to comment #4 works here with the following setup: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet", Evince 3.14.2-0ubuntu2. Both the default file name and an edited file name save correctly. Reopening the saved file shows the previously filled-in information.
