Description Owen Taylor 2015-01-20 22:44:42 UTC
I'd like to have a product created for gnome-battery-bench (http://blog.fishsoup.net/2015/01/15/gnome-battery-bench/, https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-battery-bench/) It should be classified under Applications. Just one component 'general'

When this product will be created above bug should be reassigned to gnome-battery-bench.

P.S. There is patch attached for gnome-battery-bench.

Comes with a patch as well :)

Hmm, by default we go for "Other" classification at first I think...

On "select classification" it says "Applications that are not part of GNOME 3 Core or GNOME 3 (Extended) Platform". I'd think if someone was looking for an application in GNOME bugzilla (and gnome-battery-bench to me *is* an applicaton) then they'd look in that category first.

Is Applications somehow reserved? How do you get official Applications status? It seems to me that Applications by nature should *not* have to be part of the official GNOME release.

I don't really care much... whatever you normally do.

I've put it under "Other" for the time being.

Product gnome-battery-bench has been created.
I've set you as the maintainer.
You (and any other developer of the product) can maintain the product here

 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/editproducts.cgi?action=edit&product=gnome-battery-bench

Adjust it to your liking. An initial "general" component has been created.
For any new component use

 gnome-battery-bench-maint@gnome.bugs

as QA and default assignee.

Important: Anyone interested in following all bug activity
(including all maintainers) must watch above dummy user by adding
it to the 'users to watch' list under Preferences->Email preferences.

Note: You can mark more developers as product maintainers in Bugzilla
under Administration > Users at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/editusers.cgi

Note: If you would like to adjust the versions and have a version for the
latest code, please use the name "git master" for it (for consistency).

What would change later?
Comment 7 André Klapper 2015-02-12 23:03:25 UTC
I follow https://wiki.gnome.org/BugzillaMaintainers/CreatingNewProducts and that says "Products not accepted by the release-team must be shown under Other." so that the audience to discuss whether to put under "Applications" I'm afraid.
I don't care much and I'm afraid there's no real consistency anyway currently...
