GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 741615
PDF form image input box does not work in evince
Last modified: 2018-05-22 16:00:38 UTC
Downstream report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/426145 1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch) Release: 15.04 2) apt-cache policy evince evince: Installed: 3.14.1-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.14.1-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.14.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What is expected to happen is when one opens the following attachment, scrolls down to the bottom right, to the right of "Nom et signature" click the field and an pop up opens to insert a picture file, as it does in Adobe Reader https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/426145/+attachment/705192/+files/form_fiche_evalrisq.pdf . 4) What happens instead is this is not a clickable option. First reproduced in Ubuntu 9.04 evince 2.26.1-0ubuntu1.
It is not trivial. The document has JavaScript. Poppler, the library used by Evince to render PDF documents does not have support for JavaScript. Therefore, it has to be implemented there first before anything could be done in Evince.
