Description hassard 2002-03-10 16:21:34 UTC
Package: panel
Version: 1.4.0.4
Severity:

>Synopsis: panel loaded two footprints on right, then crashed
>Class: sw-bug
System: IBM PC350 RH7.2

>Description:
Fresh install of RH7.2 on an IBM PC350
(Pentium 166, 80Meg memory, 4Gig HD),
with S3Trio64V+ graphics and 1MB video RAM.
After creating boot disk,
Monitor IBM G70
Customize graphics Config: specified
256 colors (8bit) and screen res 1024x768
Chose Gnome as default, graphical login.
On reboot, Kudzu detected network card and
after setting this up, the system
went into the graphical login page.
Did a login; but then when Gnome started, loading
the panel. The panel itself appeared, and two
(footprint) icons loaded on the right. Then
panel crashed, giving the message to send
this report.

>How-To-Repeat:
On this system: do Ctrl-Alt-Backspace which restarts the GUI and gives graphical login.
Login. When Gnome starts to load the panel,
the same crash happens.

To check that this might be related to the
XF86 Configuration, I became "root" and
changed /etc/X11/XF86Config so
the display was 640x480, 16 bit color depth.
The same panel crash happened.
